Sophie & Bill’s Romantic Bali Wedding at Villa Bayuh Sabbha, Uluwatu

Real Bali Wedding: Sophie + Bell, Villa Bayuh Sabbha, Uluwatu | The Bali Bride, Bali Wedding Directory

Sophie and Bill tied the knot in their self-described “happy place”, and we couldn’t think of a better way to start newlywed life! Joined by 100 of their closest friends and family, Sophie and Bill (alongside an epic team of Bali wedding professionals) created a romantic, tropical-inspired Bali wedding complete with a fresh white and green palette, custom signage and modern luxe furnishings.

Set at Villa Bayuh Sabbha in Uluwatu, this fairytale wedding took place overlooking the ocean with the picturesque Bali coastline as their backdrop. An intimate outdoor ceremony was styled beautifully using the stunning Bali Event Hire range (a favourite with our Bali Bride couples!), including rustic timber benches, wood stump aisle markers and a luxe wire structure bursting with textural foliage and white blooms.

Signature details like custom neon signage, engraved coconuts and a delish-looking donut wall all came together to create this love-filled Bali wedding, as guests sipped on espresso martinis, mojitos and margaritas (our kind of cocktail list!). A selection of modern yet minimal furniture and decor completed the setting, with low picnic-style tables, statement wire backdrops, rattan peacock chairs and bright tropical textiles tying the look together.

With the sweet sounds of live acoustics floating through the air, guests spent the evening dancing and mingling underneath strings of twinkling fairy lights as the sun set over the ocean. And luckily for us, every special moment was captured in the most beautiful wedding film by the talented videography team at Leura Film, along with stunning imagery by our friends at Terralogical.

See all of the love for yourself in some snaps from the day below, including some Bali wedding planning advice from the brand new bride and groom!

The Details…

Wedding date: 3 July 2018

Wedding Ceremony Venue: Villa Bayuh Sabbha in Bingin

Wedding Reception Venue: Villa Bayuh Sabbha in Bingin

Total Guests: 100

Our style/Inspiration: Tropical romance. Think fairy lights, white and green palette, neon “all you need is love” signs, blush pink cocktails and cosy furniture

Who we couldn’t have done it without: Ranny Bronzer was just so relaxed and made all the bridal party feel beautiful. She’s super talented and demands perfection. Couldn’t recommend her any more.

Advice for future Bali Brides: Take your time in making decisions. Get quotes from at least 3 planners and find one that communicates with you the way you like. Even if they’re a little bit more, they’ll save you the stress in the long run.

Our Wedding Day…

Wedding Planner/Stylist: Save the Date Bali, Marita from Save the Date Bali helped us to pull together our dream wedding.

Décor/Furniture: Bali Event Hire and Hitch’d

Hair & Make-up: Ranny Bronzer – one word ‘amazing’

Photography: Terralogical

Videography: Leura Film

Favours: Personalised fans from Wiracana

Celebrant: My mums best friend is a celebrant so we were very lucky to have her officiate the wedding. However, we had to hold a separate ceremony in Australia to make it legal. Leanne Brooks was our celebrant.

Catering: Oma Thias

Cake/Dessert: We’d noticed that cake always seemed to go to waste at weddings so we opted for something different. Our champagne tower was created by the team at Oma Thias and our donut wall, (Bill lovesssss donuts) was by Dough Darlings.

Stationery/Invitations: Paper Minx Designs. They have so many beautiful suites to choose from, Bali brides to be, make sure you check them out.

Entertainment: Jimmy King.
We were out one night at a function and this one man band started playing. Within 5 minutes, everyone (young and old) was on the dance floor singing along. We asked Jimmy that night if he would play at our wedding, and when he found out it was in Bali he was in! He was our secret ingredient, and honestly, every single guest said he made the wedding amazing. He’s started doing destination weddings so would highly recommend anyone wanting to have a massive party to contact him.

Transport: Mai Transport

Gift Registry: N/A – we encouraged guests to bring a bottle of champagne instead of a gift as importing quality champagne is challenging

Wedding Songs:

Down the aisle: Bridesmaid to Angels by the XX and for the bride Skinny Love by Bon Iver

The Bridal Party Details…

Bride’s Dress: Pallas Couture – both the ceremony and reception dress

Bride’s Shoes: Alias Mae

Bridesmaid’s Dresses: My bridesmaid were all literally different sizes so to ensure they were comfortable, I let them choose their own. The brief I gave them was white and structured – not boho. They were: Mischa Collection, Bardot, Santina Nicole.

Bridemaid’s Shoes: Nine West

Groom’s Attire & Shoes: Industrie pants

Flowergirls/Page Boys: Flowergirls from Tutudumonde, Boys shirts from H & M and shorts from David Jones.

Jewellery: The girls had Kookai earrings, I literally bought 15 different earrings for myself- ranging from $30 – $300, and only put some on at the reception. And guess what, I wore the $30 ones from Adornme.

The rings: We had the special experience of hand-picking our own diamond from the team at Gem Trove in Melbourne CBD. I often get pulled aside from people asking where we got it from because of how much it sparkles. Couldn’t recommend these guys any more – plus it’s far more cost effective than going through a jeweller.

Honeymoon Details: 2019 Europe trip – yachting around Croatia, Portugal – tough gig!

Where did you find your styling inspiration for your Bali wedding? Mix of everything really, Pinterest, the Bali Bride Instagram and many many many other Instagram pages.

What was the hardest part about planning a destination wedding? I never sighted the venue prior which made it hard to plan for space/style/photos.

Why did you choose Bali as your wedding destination? We absolutely love Bali, in particular, Bingin is our happy place and we wanted to share it with our nearest and dearest.

How did you stay organised while planning a destination wedding? A good quality spreadsheet and having really clear plans with my husband to be.

Budget: Roughly $60k – but hard to say because this included part of our holiday as well.

Actual Cost: $60 – $70k including 4 nights accommodation for 10 people at our wedding villa as well as wedding dress etc

A big congratulations to Sophie and Bill on their dreamy Bali wedding! See more images from their beautiful day below.
