Nikita & Kurt’s Coastal Bali Wedding at Nusa Lembongan by Plan A
Together since their early twenties, Nikita & Kurt spent 9 years traveling and discovering the world so choosing Bali was really easy! Becoming engaged during a global pandemic didn’t stop them from their celebrations, instead, they were able to postpone their wedding for two years and have their ideal celebration on the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan. They prioritized a laid-back atmosphere, dining outdoors under the stars, and orchards for their big day.
Nikita & Kurt chose to get married in Nusa Lembongan after visiting and falling in love with the location. They were married at the Sandy Bay Beach Club all thanks to Plan A, who knew about this divine wedding venue on the beach with a beach club, day spa and accommodation. As well as being able to spend time with their very close family and friends, Sandy Bay Beach Club had so much on offer everybody loved it!
Nikita & Kurt began their day with a beachfront ceremony with continuous ocean views as far as the eyes could see. From there, guests made their way to the reception at the beach club to enjoy welcome cocktails with some guests getting in early with shots in front of the water.
Guests were wowed with the decor and styling with tropical, rattan placemats, greenery and hints of soft, blush pinks in florals and napkins and ocean views as far as the eyes could see. As the sun set, the fairy floss skies were the highlight looking through the canopy of fairy lights above and enjoying a delicious cake from Butter Bali. The white wooden chairs and chiffon covered tables adorned with green, white and pink florals from the talented team at Bali Tropical Florist making the most beautiful, dream setting.

About Us…
We met when we were both 20 years old and have been together ever since. Some people say you shouldn’t settle down when you’re so young, but settling down is far from what we’ve done! We’ve lived in different states & countries and spent the past 9 years traveling around the world, going on non-stop adventures together. I have loved every minute of getting to know the boy that I first fell in love with, to the man that I married. And now we’ve begun our new chapter! We’ve bought a house, have our dream dog and we are expecting our first child, due in February 2023 🙂
Bride’s Name: Nikita Anderson
Groom’s Name: Kurt Penney
How we met: At a night club – He was dressed up in the Indian cricket uniform and I was dressed up as a cowgirl…Suuuuuper romantic
The proposal:
It was a regular weekend and Kurt asked me to be out of the house for a few hours, because he needed to get some stuff sorted for my birthday, which was the following weekend. Of course I thought it was a bit odd, but I just assumed he was maybe setting up an early birthday picnic or maybe he’d hire a chef to come to the house. Two hours had passed and I went back to our place. As I opened the door, there were bouquets of flowers all down the hallway and rose petals scattered on the floor and Kurt was standing outside on the grass, all dressed up. I was very confused at first.. It wasn’t until 2 seconds later when I heard the song “I get to love you” start to play, which I had played for him the weekend earlier saying “isn’t this a beautiful song for our wedding one day”, that I realized “OMG he’s finally proposing!!!”. I immediately burst into tears and Kurt walked me outside onto the grass, overlooking the river whilst the sun was setting, and he got down on one knee and proposed. Little did I know, he had filmed the entire thing, created a proposal playlist and then organized for our parents to join us for drinks 15 minutes later. We then proceeded to down around 4 bottles of champagne each and dance the night away. It was the happiest moment of my life!

The Bridal Party Details…
Bride’s Dress: Harlow V2 by Made with Love & La Lune Lace Front Maxi by Shona Joy. I was 5.5 months pregnant on our wedding day and both of my dresses couldn’t have shown off my bump more beautifully. I really have truly never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day and I was so happy that I did end up buying the second dress, as it was a lot more comfortable for me & my bump to dance the night away.
Bride’s Shoes: Sol Sana heels
Bridesmaid’s Dresses: I wanted my bridesmaids to be comfy as possible and I know that there is nothing worse than being forced to wear a dress that you’re never going to wear again or that you don’t feel comfortable in, so my only request to them was to buy a white linen dress. The rest was up to them. I wanted our wedding to be as relaxed as possible, so that included the bridesmaids dresses. Bali is also very humid! It’s important to factor that in when choosing bridesmaid’s dresses.
Bridemaid’s Shoes: Mixture – White & strappy
Groom’s Attire & Shoes: MJ Bale Suit
Flowergirls/Page Boys: Arabella & Rose
Jewelry: Pearl drop earring, Cartier love bangle
The rings: Kurt had my ring made by our jeweler in Hong Kong, who has made my family’s jewelry for decades. Our wedding bands were made from the same gold that I was given when I was a baby. I also had a diamond wedding band made.
The final part…
Where did you find your styling inspiration for your Bali wedding?
I had a million & one Pinterest boards and had been following every single wedding related Instagram page for years!!! As I said, we’ve been together since we were 20, so it’s safe to say, I had a while to plan for the wedding. I was just patiently waiting for him to pop the question. Then he finally did, but that is when COVID decided to come along, but we had our hearts set on getting married in Bali, so we patiently waited for 2 years until the world finally opened back up. The 3 things that I wanted most at our wedding was a relaxed vibe, to feel like I was dining under a million stars and orchards! And we had all of those things.
What was the hardest part about planning a destination wedding?
Not being able to physically attend the venue or see the suppliers was hard, especially for someone who is a control freak and wanted every detail to be perfect. Photos just sometimes don’t always work when it comes to comparing color tones. With that being said, when the day comes along, you sort of forget about a lot of things because you are so in your love bubble. The smaller details just don’t seem to matter as much as they did beforehand.
Why did you choose Bali as your wedding destination?
We’d been to Bali countless times and it’s always held a special place in our hearts. It has a vibe like no other and we knew from the beginning that it’s where we wanted to say I do. We visited Nusa Lembongan and fell in love with the island a few years ago. Originally we hadn’t planned on getting married there, but when we realized that our wedding planner had done weddings there before, we jumped on the opportunity. We hadn’t seen the villa beforehand, but we had been to Sandy Bay Beach Club on our previous travels, which is attached to the villa, so we knew exactly where it was and the view from the villa.
