Julie and Anton’s Fairytale Bali Wedding at Villa Tamarama, Uluwatu
If you’re currently looking for Bali wedding inspiration, get your Pinterest button ready because Julie and Anton’s fairytale wedding is the stuff of our dreams!
After 7 years together and an amazing surprise proposal in Uluru, these two decided to host an intimate wedding with just 36 of their loved ones at Villa Tamarama, The Ungasan in Uluwatu. Inspired by classic, romantic styling and timeless details, the talented wedding planning team at Hari Indah came on board to bring Julie and Anton’s fairytale vision to life.
Designed around a luxurious colour palette of blush pink, cream and gold, every element from this dreamy Bali wedding worked perfectly together to set the scene for a memorable day. Celebrations kicked off with a sweet outdoor ceremony complete with a circular floral arbour and ocean views, before a sunset portrait session down on the beach.
Back at the villa, guests mingled amongst comfortable lounges, ottomans and cocktail furniture (thanks to our friends at Bali Event Hire and Wonderland Rentals), before sitting down for an intimate poolside dinner. Beautifully decorated tables were framed by a canopy of flowers, hanging chandeliers and soft linen draping, paired with gold charger plates and blush linen napkins for a chic, elegant look.
We’re obsessed with the romantic styling from Julie and Anton’s day, and we think you’ll love it too! Keep scrolling to see all of the pretty details from this dreamy Bali wedding at Villa Tamarama below, along with the epic team of Bali suppliers who brought it all to life.
How we met:
We met in July 2011, at the Asia Pacific Cities Summit in Brisbane, Australia – this was a 3 day professional event and we got introduced by a mutual acquaintance as we both spoke Russian.
The proposal:
Anton did an incredible surprise for me. I was on holiday with my mum in Bali and he mentioned that when I return, he wants us to go away from the city on a little city break close to Melbourne. I did not suspect much of it and just thought it was really sweet. I packed enough things for a one day road trip and how surprised I was when we ended up at the airport!
Anton took me to the Ayers rock, a sacred place in the Northern Territory in Australia. There, we were staying in this gorgeous place overlooking Uluru (little did I know that he booked this thing 8 months earlier!). That afternoon he took me to a nearby sand dune, where he got on one knee and proposed. Then out of nowhere, there was a waiter, with champagne and 2 glasses to celebrate the special moment!!
It was the best day of my life, possibly even better than the wedding day because it was such an unexpected surprise and I had no idea! 🙂

Our style/Inspiration:
We wanted something elegant, classy and romantic – we wanted for the wedding to feel like a fairy tale and that’s exactly how it turned out. So many of our guests said that they felt like they spent a day in the fairy tale that every girl dreams of in childhood 🙂 Light pink, gold and blush went so well with the theme!
Who we couldn’t have done it without (Bali Supplier): Our amazing wedding planner Hari Indah – they made it all sooo easy!
Advice for future Bali Brides:
Get yourself a great wedding planner who you trust and then things will be a breeze! I feel that trying to do it yourself is too overwhelming and not worth it as it may end up being stressful and you want to really enjoy the process!

Where did you find your styling inspiration for your Bali wedding at Villa Tamarama?
I always had a vision of getting married on a clifftop somewhere in a tropical location and of course Bali was just the perfect place for it. Our wedding planner’s Instagram and Pinterest were abundant resources of inspiration and really helped me understand what I liked and what I didn’t and visualise how the day should look like.
What was the hardest part about planning a destination wedding?
Honestly I didn’t think it was hard at all, it was a very smooth and enjoyable experience…maybe because we were in great hands with our wedding planner. I am sure if we tried to do it ourselves it would have been quite overwhelming. The most challenging part (which is not related to it being a destination wedding at all) was to decide on the sitting arrangement.
Why did you choose Bali as your wedding destination?
Both my (now) husband and I love Bali and it also was a great mid-way point to get our families from Russia and Ukraine and our friends from Australia where we live as well together.
How did you stay organised while planning a destination wedding?
Our wedding planner kept us well on track about what we needed to do, and we ensured we did everything on time and not leaving things to last minute to avoid any unnecessary stress!
Budget: approx $40,000
